I keep meaning to take a look at Bookshop.org – it sounds like a much better way of buying books online. I used to enjoy horror as a teen but haven’t really read it much since. These days I don’t particularly enjoy suspense or anything too emotional so I tend to keep my reading fairly light. Always find it interesting though to read more about what books other people enjoy and why. #MMBC

Bookshop.org is great. I actually use my local bookshop (The Bookshop on the Green) the one we used to visit frequently when we could, it’s a lovely little village shop. But I’m always happy to share my books so it made sense to have my own Bookshop too.

The Alchemist is such a quick and easy read, a bit like a fable. I really enjoyed it. Terry Pratchett will always be close to my heart, I have so many of his books, special editions, memorabilia and I’ve been to his special Discworld Emporium in Somerset. A house he lived in came up for sale recently and I dreamt about owning it. I think I’m a little obsessed. I cried so much when I heard he’d died and I’ve never cried over the death of a celebrity before.

I didn’t know you were a librarian. So cool! I read The Alchemist years ago and liked it. I think I need to try Veronika Decides to Die. Thanks for the wonderful book recommendations.

It was my dream job Laurie, I used to play at librarian when I was a child and loan my books to my friends. I got a job in public libraries in my 30s and then I moved to an academic library in most beautiful building which was also an art gallery. It broke my heart when I had to leave because of (very serious) family problems. I even tried a sabbatical but I couldn’t go back. Veronika decides to die is a little shocking, but it really makes you think about life.

I could spend hours in a good bookshop. I will definitely be checking out bookshop.org.
I do love a good horror but haven’t read any for a long time.
