Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘brighter’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Brighter
Last week I was a bit down, I guess the holiday blues got to me, and then with my wheelchair playing up and no plans ahead I just felt trapped and blue. This week I’m feeling a little brighter, thank goodness. My wheelchair still needs fixing but it is working, so there is no immediate rush, I’ll have time to save up the cost of the repairs. In fact we even went out this week, so my imprisonment didn’t last too long.
On Monday we managed to get a last minute place on a trip to the Birmingham Wildlife Centre with the Little Man. It was lovely having time just the three of us. I still love taking the girls out, but they can be a bit moody, or if they are not moody they are glued to their phones. Typical teenagers of the time. They love the Wildlife Centre, but I didn’t want to take them because I’m trusting them to go there with their partners next week, and no parents! It was Star’s idea for her 16th birthday treat. If the weather is brighter, as it has been promised, then we might have a BBQ ready for them when they get home, along with Birthday cake of course. Fingers crossed for sunny weather.
Yesterday I took the Little Man on a picnic with some friends. I’ll write about that later.
Also, I’ve been cheering myself up with future plans. Next year we are going to holiday in May half term. It seems the weather is brighter in the Spring so fingers crossed. Plus, the summer is such a mix up of birthdays and other plans it will probably be more relaxed to take our holiday earlier, a bit cheaper too. We are thinking of hiring a bigger car. It’s such a pain having to get our luggage in as well as my wheelchair and I’m convinced that’s what damaged my chair (although Graham is blaming me for the damage, I’m pretty sure I’d have noticed if I’d bashed it so hard.)
I’m at my happiest when making plans for the future. It hits me sometimes that I don’t actually know how much future I have. And I get down when I think about a future that is filled with pain and illness. But planning nice things are what keeps me happy and that’s why this week I’m feeling brighter…oh and the sun is shining too (I don’t know how long for but fingers crossed it will be a here for a while.)
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
