Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Productivity’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. And please only add one post to the link up each week, multiple posts will be deleted. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Productivity
It’s been quite a productive week despite us not leaving the house or actually achieving everything I wanted to do.
I wasn’t well over the weekend. I think I may have had a reaction to the contrast dye I was given for my scan last week. I was sick and my stomach was really not happy. I couldn’t eat and felt really tired. I made the most of my sick time by catching up on Netflix. Last weekend I finished the third series of Travelers, so I had to find something new to watch. I tend to stumble on the programs I watch rather than by research so I ended up watching Irregulars. I think I may have a bit of a penchant for all things Sherlock Holmes so this was right up my street. It was a little bit scary, totally weird, and quite addictive. I don’t know if there will be a second series but I’d definitely watch it. Can binge watching be classed as productive? (I guess if you are sick and unable to do anything else!)
Then I decided to take a different approach to Home Education with the Little Man this week. We both got frustrated last week so I changed things up and we learnt about things in a different way. Board games are great for learning, whether it’s maths or word skills. Scrabble is a great way to learn about words and spelling. I hadn’t realised the Little Man had not played Scrabble before. We have played Sproutword which is similar but without restricted to a board or counting the numbers on the tiles. Scrabble involves English (spelling) and Maths (counting/sums) so a great way to learn while having fun.
He also finished his Cyborg Hand which I bought him for Christmas. He had made it all with his Dad but they had stopped when it reached the actual hydraulic part and kind of forgot about it. This week I said he should finish it off and learn all about hydraulics as a science lesson. It took them two hours but he was really fascinated about learning how it all worked. I think Science, English and Maths have all been taught this week so I count that as productive and the books can wait a while.
I’ve also been productive in the background for my blog and new shop. I’ve got lots lined up for the next few months. I don’t know if the shop will be a success, I have actually run an online shop in the past and they can be hard work. I am willing to put the work in for now but I really need to sort out a more detailed plan of action. A job I keep putting off.
I’ve been filling in my new journal every day and it’s really helping me to stay focused and increase my productivity. I’m also finding it easier to find more things to be positive about, which is often difficult when pain is the main focus of the day.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?

That was indeed a productive week! Sometimes homeschooling can take all sorts of forms. Do what works best for you. I hope the shop goes well and that things will begin to look up next week.
It sounds like a good week apart fromt the reacting to the contrast dye.
Good job with the home learning, it sounds like a fun approach to the home learning is working.
Wishing you all the best with your new shop, it sounds like you have some great plans for it. x
Sounds like you had a very productive week! So great that your little man had a better week of learning. Scrabble and board games are fantastic educational tools. Good luck with your new shop!
A different approach to learning can work wonders sometimes and sometimes the promise of more can encourage the kids to do more traditional stuff. It’s whatever works for you and him. Good luck with the online shop!
This is undoubtedly productive work. You could accomplish many tasks including some tasks for the online shop. I hope it will be a successful business! Good Luck!
Love the focus on productivity! Setting priorities, avoiding distractions, and taking breaks are all important steps to being more productive. I appreciate the reminder to be intentional with our time and energy. Thanks for the motivation!
Sorry that you weren’t well over the weekend. Binge-watching things can definitely be classed as productive when you’re not feeling well enough to do anything else! Scrabble sounds like a great way to learn through having fun. I’d never thought of it as being educational before but I can see how it’s great for both English and Maths. The Cyborg hand is a great way of learning about Science too. Glad your new journal is helping you be more positive and productive too. #WotW
It sounds like you had a great week. I always need a day catching up or rewatching things I like on Netflix etc. You are doing an amazing job with homeschooling. I really wouldn’t know where to start but I sometimes think it is going to be in our future with Little Lady. I hope the new shop is going well for you #WotW
