Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Coronation’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. And please only add one post to the link up each week, multiple posts will be deleted. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Coronation
Whether you are a Royalist or not you cannot miss the fact that this weekend is a one that will go down in history. King Charles III will be crowned. I know it hasn’t happened yet but as we build up to the big day I’ve decided to use Coronation as my word of the week this week.
Will you be doing anything special to celebrate. I would love to be going to a street party, or to even have one organised in our street. (We have the perfect little grove for a party but no-one ever organises anything!) But, we will be watching on television and I will put up some decorations. We are also planning a party food dinner, we were hoping for a BBQ but the weather doesn’t look promising. I’ve decided to make hot dogs anyway to go along with our party treats.
Today the Little man will be helping me make some special cupcakes. I’m trying so hard to get the kids interested. In many years to come they will know they were there for this moment in history, but it’s so hard to youngsters to get excited about anything at the moment.
I haven’t forgotten about the Cost of Living Crisis and how the Royals and the rich appear to be unaware of what it is really like for ‘their’ people. But as an Imperial Country we should acknowledge the occasion at least. I could add to the debate but that’s not what I’m here for.
So, for this momentous occasion we will be watching on television while scoffing our hot dogs and cup cakes!
God Save the King and Queen.
(p.s. I once sang Zadok The Priest in a choir while studying music. It was an amazing experience and I have a VHS recording somewhere, lol!)
now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
Thanks for the opportunity to linkup here with you. I will revert back to check out others
We have no plans at all for tomorrow apart from watching the Coronation on the TV. It sounds like you have a good day planned. x
Madam and I watched the coronation and really enjoyed it. It’s nice to feel part of the occasion. Zadok The Priest is an amazing piece of music.
We sat in front of the TV and watched it all with cake, sandwiches, gin and Prosecco. We also put some bunting up outside and later today we’re joining the neighbours in the cup de sac for a tea party
I missed it because I was out on Saturday night when it was broadcast live. I did watch a bit on my phone because I didn’t want to miss out completely. If I was home then I would have done something special to mark the occasion. When Harry and Meghan got married we had a delicious formal dinner and I decorated the house with Union Jack bunting.
Hope you enjoyed the Coronation weekend celebrations and the cupcakes. Zadok the Priest was a highlight of the Coronation service for me. It must have been amazing to sing it in a choir. #WotW
