When the weather is rough and there is no better place than home then it’s great to stay warm in front of the television. This is what I’ve been watching lately so far this year.
The Tourist Season 2
I loved the The Tourist and couldn’t wait for the 2nd series. I started watching on BBC1 but impatiently, I binged the rest of the series on iPlayer. I won’t give too much away for those still watching weekly as I’m aware it’s not finished yet…and I’m still watching it weekly! Yes, I loved it that much.
First up, you will have needed to watch the first series otherwise you may be a little confused. Elliot first ended up in Australia where he was run off the road by a truck and left for dead…only he wasn’t, he just couldn’t remember who he was. He begins a relationship with an Australian cop, Helen. It’s a very strange combination but it’s also very sweet and it works.
In this series Elliot and Helen have come to Ireland to try and find out who he really is. They are separated and both subjected to pretty awful times being kidnapped.
We find out a lot more about Elliot and his family and it’s not good. I don’t want to give too much away but there are so many twists and turns, lots of violence, a little bit of utter weirdness and a touch of comedy….. and Jamie Dornan, what more could you want from a series?
Fool Me Once
I’m not a huge fan of Harlen Coben but I was drawn into this as everyone and their dog seems to have been watching and raving about it. I do like Michelle Keegan though, and it was nice to see her back in her ‘My Girl’ uniform.
The story is great, very intriguing with so many twists and turns. As always, with Harlen Coben, I did work out who the ‘killer’ was early on, but there were times when I thought I might be wrong, so I was kept suitably entertained throughout. I loved the ending, even though it was tinged with sadness.
Somewhere Between
I was drawn into this because I liked the supernatural coming back to life in the past theme.
Two strangers, Laura and Nico, drown in the lake on the same day and both come back a week earlier. They need to race against time to stop the events unfolding and save Laura’s 8 year Old Daughter, Lily. Being the only ones who know the outcome of what happens they team up together because neither of them know why it happened. But that’s about as strange as it gets.
The rest is the usual violence, racing around, figuring out who done it and why, and most of all stopping it from happening.
I don’t want to give anything away but there is a running theme…what would you do to protect your child?
What I wasn’t happy about was that there was no explanation for the coming back to life or time travel, the whole thing seemed to be forgotten about!
Traitors UK Season 2
I’m loving Traitors again. I watched the first series which was great, then I watched the American version which I enjoyed less because they had minor celebrities in there which kind of made it more of a ‘look at me’ show, and the ending left me feeling flat.
I didn’t think the second series would be so good but it has been. I loved the burial march episode, how gruesome. I think it was much darker than the buried alive task in the first series!
I can’t wait to see who wins this time. And Claudia Winkelman is fabulous.
What have you been watching lately? Let me know so I can add it to my list. I’m happy staying in front of the tv while the weather is so cold. In the meantime, I’m really looking forward to the next series of Taskmaster, it really makes me laugh.
I haven’t been watching anything new apart from Mr Bates Post office thing and the soaps. I have heard good things about The Tourist and Fool Me Once is on my list of things to watch. x
We really enjoyed Fool Me Once. Craig reads a lot of Harlen Coben’s books. I’ve also got The Tourist on our list of things to watch. x
Fool Me Once is the only Harlen Coben I’ve actually enjoyed. But the television series to tend to be better, the books are American based. The Tourist is great, violent in parts but also humorous. You have to start from the first series though.
We’ve The Tourist season 2 lined up to watch. We[‘ve never seen Traitors, it doesn’t appeal to us. Have you watched Vera? Thanks for linking with #pocolo
Vera looks really good and I’ve tried to watch it but Brenda Blethyn’s voice really grates on me, I know that sounds awful.
