Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week, a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like.
There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. Do try to stick to the theme of summing your week up. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix (formerly Stumble.) Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
My Word of the Week
This week I decided to visit Homebase to see if I could get some inspiration. I need to redecorate my living room, and to decorate my stairs. The living room is looking a bit tired and we need new carpets and curtains as well as paint and wallpaper. I thought it would be a chance to change the colour scheme which is currently tones of brown and red. We will still be keeping our brown settees but I’m sure most colours go with brown. I didn’t have much success though. Our local homebase seems to have very little choice in wallpaper, but I did come home with lots of paint swatches. We are thinking of a duck egg paint for the stairs and landing. I’ve still not decided on a colour for the living room though.
We also need to redecorate the downstairs bathroom, but we already have the paint for that. I just need a new blind. My dream is to have it turned into a wet room, but I guess that will have to wait for now.
I’ve not done much else this week apart from crochet and write which has kept me busy enough. It’s good to take it easy sometimes, I’ve a busy week next week. I have made the decision that I need to leave the house at least once a week though. When I went out on Tuesday it was the first time in eleven days. It’s no wonder I want to redecorate when all I see are these four walls!
So, now it’s over to you. What word or phrase sums up your week?
Good luck with the redecorating. It’s frustrating when there doesn’t seem to be much choice available. Hope you manage to find a colour you like for the living room. I go a bit crazy seeing the same four walls too – getting out always makes me feel better. Thanks for hosting #WotW and hope you have a good weekend.
We need to redecorate too. Hope you can settle on a colour, duck egg blue is lovely. I am also guilty of staying in he house most of the time, it is too much physical effort to go out at the moment. I think going out once a week is an achievable goal without being overwhelming.
Have you tried The Range for wallpaper ? they have a pretty good selection. I think when you spend a lot of time at home it’s worth decorating nicely, just how you want. I spend a lot of time at home and it does make you notice the things you want to change all the more. Good luck with the decorating x
I love to redecorate! Maybe I should say I love the results, but not the process. Hubby and I are in the process of downsizing. I would like to look for a smaller house that we can do some redecorating to make our own; he wants a condo. We will have to see!
My fella has been painting this past week. The hallway and there’s still the living room to do. We’re in no rush it’s just to freshen it up a bit.
It sounds like you have some great ideas.
Getting out a bit more sounds like a good idea too. x
I love the colour duck egg. We have low ceilings so white is the best option for our cottage. Tried all sorts of paint, including ox blood, but always go back to white, so slightly envy your paint choosing. Hope you find the right look.
I detest painting, so I don’t envy you! My bedroom needs doing desperately, I just can’t bring myself to do it x
Hate having to redecorate but there does come a time when it has to be done. We have been in here 6 years, the stairs and the living room were done before we moved in and apart from the banister nothing has been since.
I would happily sit in all day, quite happy with my own company and could easily occupy myself
Omg once you start thinking about decorating it never ends! It’s exciting but overwhelming isn’t it? I love Duck egg, most of my home are states of duck egg blue and white x
