Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My phrase this week is ‘struggling’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Struggling

This week my word of the week has been provided by my daughter Star. I asked her for the word of the week and she immediately replied ‘struggling.’ I can’t deny that she has a point.
The girls have not been to school this week, they haven’t been very well and they’ve been struggling to sleep. They are also finding school a struggle. Boo can’t cope with all the changes and Star is struggling because she is supposed to be doing her mock GCSEs but feels she hasn’t learned enough.
We have spent a lot of time doing lessons on Ed Place, keeping up with Maths, English and Science. But the girls are falling further behind and beginning to feel the struggle.
I hope that when they feel a little better they can get back to school and get some more work done.
It’s also been a struggle to get our food this week. I logged on to do my online shop last week and there was nothing available until Wednesday, I normally have a delivery on Monday. I really don’t know where my money goes because I seem to spend more and more on food and we seem to have less and less to eat. It really is a struggle to buy enough to fit our needs. I have my girls at home for lunch every day which works out more expensive and they never know what they want to eat. It was not too bad when it was just Star as she was happy with a sandwich, but Boo isn’t a fan of bread unless it’s home made.
I struggled to finish my last book that I was reading, although I enjoyed it in the end it wasn’t the easy read I was expecting. You can read my review on my other blog here. The Book of Two Ways by Jodie Picoult.
I have been struggling with a shawl pattern that I’m crocheting. It’s a cable affect and it took me three attempts to grasp the pattern, only to find I was missing a big chunk and had to frog (undo) it and start again. Then you turn the pattern around and work along the side. There were 128 rows but I was supposed to do a row of 199 stitches along the side. It’s not impossible, but I’m currently on my fourth attempt.
There are many other things I’ve struggled with this week, so I think Star chose well. I’m just hoping for a nice easy weekend now to relax and forget my struggles. I hope the girls can feel more relaxed too and hopefully we’ll be back to some sort of normality next week. Or should I say, back to the crazy routine I was struggling with last week!
