Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Bullying’ and you can read more about that below.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU WISH TO LINK UP! FROM NOW ON, THOSE NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES WILL BE DELETED.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. And please only add one post to the link up each week, multiple posts will be deleted. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week. Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Bullying
I’ve been here before, it’s not the first time and it probably won’t be the last. Bullying! My boy has been at school for just over a week and it’s been relentless. They gave him a little book to write things down as they happen and it makes me well up just reading it. I said I was going to fight it and I have. The school are stepping up and doing their best to stop it. We’ve also identified that The Little Man also has other problems which need addressing. I will get the bullying to stop!
I have enrolled him into college for next September. Yes, he’ll only be in year 10 but one of our local colleges takes children from 14 and offers them GCSE course in very small classes with lots of SEND support. I haven’t told the school yet, but we are going to have a look at the college and see if it’s a better option for the future. In which case, he only has one year of school left. Of course, if things improve massively in the next year he may stay at his school (Which is a lot nearer) but at least we have a light at the end of this horrible bullying tunnel.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
Oh Anne, I am so sorry your boy is still being bullied. At least with the little book there will be a record of all the incidents. Sending massive love and hugs. I’ve been there when my youngest was being bullied. It is heartbreaking.
Good luck with the college, there is one which takes 14 year olds here and they seem to do really well with the classes being smaller. Hang on in there. x
Oh poor Little Man! I’m so sorry that the bullying is relentless again for him and I hope that it stops soon. It sounds like the school are being more helpful this time and hopefully things will get better quickly. I’m glad you’ve got him enrolled into college for next September – as you say, at least there is light at the end of the tunnel and the college does sound like it might be a good option for him.
This truly made me tear up too. I really wish there was something that could be done so bullies see how they make other people feel. I know you want to fight it but I just feel like I would keep him home! But I suppose that can’t be done forever.
Oh no! Keeping a record and speaking up when things happen means the school can deal with it more effectively – in theory. It’s hard for you both, I hope things improve. The college sounds really good though. Fingers crossed everything works out.
Oh, this makes me so sad. Kids can be so bloody vile! I hope things get sorted out. College sounds like a fab option for your little man, I hope everything turns out well for him. xx
I’m so sorry your son is having to go through this. Kids are nasty I’m dreading the next stage of my little lady’s school life. It sounds like the school is at least doing something. Or trying to. I would go for the college route to be honest. College was so much better for me. I wonder if we have any near us that do that. Good luck with everything #WotW
It’s always horrible to hear about children being bullied. It’s good to hear that you have a backup plan to give Little Man a new start next year if necessary but hopefully the school can help you sort the problem now.
